I work with traditional rag rug techniques to create pieces for the wall or floor. My preferred method of working is locker hooking, which gives a very sturdy construction and fabulous texture. I use good quality used, and some new fabrics, finding my materials from a wide variety of sources. It is important to me to make beautiful work by breathing life into fabric that would otherwise not be needed. Patterns and designs often emerge instinctively from a store of impressions and influences. Being Artist in Residence at Lawrence Batley Theatre this year has been very exciting to say the least! It has given me the time and space to experiment, explore and work through many new ideas. I am committed to making good quality work that helps people to feel good.
